Sylvian Bock is a multifaceted and versatile grower, often compared to his wines, which share the same qualities. His wines are easy to recognise thanks to the playful labels on his bottles, and Sylvian is known for his experiments with co-fermentation and for delayed releases when certain barrels decide to take detours he didn't foresee.
He lives in the Ardèche in the Rhône valley, which Sylvian likes to call "the North of the South of France". He has been making his own wines for almost 15 years, and they are rustic and soulful. The grapes he grows are mostly on basalt and limestone soils, and his main varieties are Grenache, Syrah, Merlot and Gamay. He never adds sulphites or sulphur to his wines, and he really enjoys using carbonic maceration, which gives his wines great freshness.
