Collection: Domaine De La Cadette

The grower Valentin Montanet runs a small winery in Saint-Père and surrounding areas that carry the name of the village of Vézelay. His parents started organic winemaking in the area shortly before the turn of the millennium, and Valentin has now taken over the winery. Viticulture in Vézelay has an interesting history: it all but died out after the phylloxera epidemic of the 19th century. In recent decades, however, it has risen again with ambitious winemakers who emphasise natural methods and sustainability, like Valentin Montanet.

Geographically, Vézelay is closer to the Loire valley than to the main wine regions of Bourgogne, which gives it a slightly different character. The soil is mostly limestone, similar to Chablis, which gives the wines a mineral and refreshing character. The area has a cool continental climate that gives the wines freshness and good acidity.
