The wonderful couple Antonella Gerosa and Massimo Marchiori are from Piedmont in Italy, but have put down roots in a small village called Bonastre, north of Tarragona in Spain. They founded Partida Creus in 2007 and began by growing food, but since they could never find any good wines nearby to pair with their meals, they decided to make wine themselves. They started by reviving old vines of local grape varieties that most people had written off. They were thought a little mad for these experiments, but after tireless work they now make some of the most distinctive and honest wines coming out of Spain today. They make natural wine about as naked as it gets, leaving out all additives and keeping the wines unfiltered and unfined.
The two letters on their bottles stand for the grapes in each wine, and most people will know the playful design of the Partida Creus bottles, which have been among Spain's most popular natural wines in recent years.
